Dear Betsy Haines - APSC Lead Dog

Dear Betsy Haines, President of the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company:

Subject: My Admittance of Guilt – How I purposely misappropriated the data stream of the “Pump Station #1 Custody Transfer System”, in an attempted and successful sabotage, engaging in an “unsolicited” and “unsanctioned” activity to deceive in error the Crude Oil Net Volume “ownership” for the Owner Company Producers, during the 1990 timeframe.

OK, if worried or scared or concerned about the above “Subject” matter, maybe the Alyeska law department would like to read all about it. But WOW, what a success story you can showcase to the world, your trial and tribulations working your way to the top with the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company from an “intern”. Congratulations! I too have a story to tell, same subject matter in success due same association, somewhat the same timeframe you were beginning to get your feet wet, but I am sure you are too busy to pay it any attention. And I am also sure that it was not relayed to you when the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company “web-site” administrator received my story(August 8th), as I was hoping it could be published in that “Memories & Milepost” gig that fascinates our curiosity all aboard now what it was like working on the Trans-Alaska-Pipeline. As it is another all-important “story” that sheds light on Alyeska, for the benefit of the face off of the coin as our stories extend to the extremes in opposite, in what defines “success”! To be frank, I was not a “failure” in comparison to your rewards, but because I chose to stand up to protect the environment and stand up for “workers’ rights, it was Alyeska that failed the mission to promote an atmosphere that was civil in that respect. The reason you were most likely not made aware of my story as delivered, as Alyeska was well-known for hiding things – like with the “covert spy operation” back in the 90s and investigated by the 102nd United States Congress for violations upon the workers right to be left alone in privacy. Alyeska was the company that gave “n” word using bigots a second chance, suspensions instead of that “your fired” termination slip, just ask Bill Howitt about that – as even a court judge said he could not understand the management style that allowed for such discrimination in the workplace. Hey, glad to see the Princess Worrier made it to the "Lead Dog" job before Howitt! I heard it in a bar down in Sutherland, Bill can't live with himself that he never made it to the "Top", and you beat him at his own game of Thorns! And on the other side of the isle, it was a “Kill the Messenger” mandate for some of the dedicated workers like myself, while drunk tanker captains were allowed to get away with murder most foul. I could go on, maybe in your executive privileged position you cleaned up the image, regardless the shame lingers on for some of us. So I realize you have more important things to do coming out of retirement to once again be the Commander-in-Chief of that “Pipeline People” endeavor. I wonder, what did Alyeska do wrong now?  But my storyline did get some attention most recently, when Larry Mootschenbacher, that “Pipeline People” GOTO Guy, he allowed my story to be posted on his site, which I did not realize at the time was not affiliated with Alyeska, but wow did it get some attention – over 3300 downloads of my trials & tribulations while gainfully employed by Uncle Al! Until a reader complained and then no guts no glory Larry kicked me off his site. Because of the same old broken record, some Alyeskans were afraid of the truth then and still afraid. But since you do not have the time to bother with my story in its entirety, I would think that what can be found on P.24 of that dissertation, wherein in description my “rob from Peter to pay Paul” scheme is revealed for the first time, it would be of interest to your position of responsibility, or at least of interest to Alyeska's legal resources – the attorney team that enjoyed busting the “Union” and in that celebration we ended up with Joe Hazelwood wrecking his tanker on the best-known navigational hazard in Prince William Sound. Wow, and weathered oil still kills the marine life – please do not disturb! Yes, do not deny the fact Alyeska could have prevented that mess, had the 5th Floor of Bragaw listened to the “Union” efforts back in Valdez, circa 1982. We wanted a “Union” because the management had let us down that is today water under the bridge but weathered oil in the soil – Alyeska blew the opportunity to…you still proud? So, while in disgruntlement mode and moody and realizing I was “black-listed” from ever advancing in your company, well I performed an “experiment” when I was still gainfully employed at Alyeska, before I was booted out for being a “Vocal Union Supporter”. Yes disgruntled for a second time, due the fact I was bypassed for a promotion and another promotion and…due my “Vocal Union Support” when the Valdez workers were voting for representation so we would not have to continue to assist the drunk Joe Hazelwood pirates back aboard that tanker, the latter my first disgruntlement moment and movement of record while employed. Well when bypassed for a promotion wherein I was well qualified far and beyond the qualifications of those that advanced ahead of me, that is when “Let’s Spike the Pump Station #1 Composite Crude Oil Samplers” became that “experiment”. See, I thought, let’s see if the “Measurement Specialists” that were promoted before me with far less exposure and experience to the “$Cash Register$, let’s see if they can detect my, well sabotage! See, it was easy for me to get away with it, as in my “Lead” position to oversee the Pump Station #1 “Custody Transfer”…well Betsy there existed employees like myself that were responsible to understand how much oil was sent down that pipeline, to reiterate from how the Alyeska web-site promotes you: Betsy Haines, Alyeska hire in 1990 in Projects and rose to Operations Vice President, now Interim President. “When I started, there was never a discussion about the primary business of the pipeline. I had no idea about the amount of oil going through. But I do have this memory.”

And I have this memory. For some of us, that was our main job to know exactly through critical measurement fundamentals what that “throughput” was in accuracy 24/7. In reference to your comments on that subject matter you showed an interest, as we cannot all be experts in all things considered. But that was my job and Alyeska benefitted from my dedication and had I known there would come a back-stabbing, well hope you get the point. Now when things were starting to go south for my career because I was “black-listed” by the Cathy Karr HR “Nazi” regime mentality in “shoot the messenger is alive and well”, well I started copping an attitude and began “spiking” the composite sample containers for the producers’ oil, with PLQ “coffee” in a very controlled experiment. Yes, precisely controlled, wherein I could not get caught, wherein my shenanigans could not result in something outside the ”norm” with the ups and downs of how much water was in that crude oil and thus designed to ward off a red-flag to others. All the time within the limits of the TAPS tariff. So it was a controlled experiment, hidden away but still detrimental to the overall accuracy in accountability of that oil going down that pipeline – so you were not the only one that had no idea “about the amount of oil going through” as when that “experiment” was engaged, no-one knew for sure how much oil went barreling down that pipeline to Valdez! Not with any accuracy statement. And how did I get away with it, was not anybody at the station in management watching my activities on a daily basis? Was I in a position void of responsibility? Well according to Jerry Laarsguard, who at the time of my forced transfer from the SCADA department to the Fat Alex Two Chairs department, after a dedicated past with a performance that no other Alyeska technician could challenge then or now, well Laarsguard admitted that I was my own boss as was stated on a performance appraisal so of record from a legal sense: “His tendency is to avoid supervision and establish his own work requirements and priorities.” I say “legal sense” in standing because for sure the legal department loves negative comments when push comes to shove John Doe v. APSC. Which I did take advantage of this privilege to be unsupervised, and Fat Alex was to damn busy trying to find another job for his sonny boy who never did get his hands dirty working for Alyeska! I think nepotism was also alive and well with Uncle Al, along with what I was once scolded upon by an associate that was miraculously climbing the corporate ladder, his success based on best “kiss everything that looks or smells like an ass”. So yes, I could get away with this “water spiking” as nobody instructed me upon my responsibilities because no one gave a rat’s ass about my future and or career with your company. It was “use me” then there would be the “abuse me” situation – the writing was on the wall and I for one would not fall for it, not without some revenge. So yes, I contaminated the “True” composite of the crude oil, which means the Net Volumes reported after disallowances of water content were for a time-out “fabricated”. I spiked the “crude” with more water then what was in that oil, could not go the opposite way, get the message! In a controlled experiment, that was not detectable! Why am I coming forward now? Well there is one other Alyeskan that was timely made aware of this from a legal sense, but that someone insisted that I keep it a “Secret”. Plus there was no way I wanted to give any credence to Charles Hamel, in his search for that "miracle barell", when he was a thorn and trying to convince the world he was getting too much water in his oil! And there where a few guys at the station under my training wing, so I taught them well! It was a great laugh, that we could easily pull the wool over the measurement people with “PLQ coffee”! But now that Joe Hazelwood is dead and gone but for the side-effects of his “wreck” remain, well time to spill the beans on how I orchestrated my very own “wrecking ball”. No, I am not afraid of telling it like it was! By the way, I will make this known to the Owner companies affected by this “spiking”, just so they get an understanding that Alyeska did lose control of its responsibilities, not only with drunk tanker captains but with its own employees that found out that speaking up has negative career challenging consequences. So maybe you best study up on my experiment, as I am sure you will soon get a call from one of those “Owner Company” executives. And if that Measurement Department bozo bus tries to tell you differently, don’t believe them as they would only tell a fib to save face that they were remiss in their duties to detect such a sabotage being perpetrated on their watch. For sure, they were too busy kissing ass at Bragaw! Just in estimate, it was well rounded at the 12000 barrel per day in error unjustifiably so between the 5-producers, wherein “fake” water in that amount was used to cut away from the crude oil accounting for ownership purposes, because of my “controlled spiking process”! Not much? Well it went on for nearly 8-months, the math is easy try it and talk about the need for a Tariff or a Quality Bank or a…I guess one could say it was my “Quiet Quitting”, have a good day!
